This is episode number eight Oh four and like I said, I am excited because I'm going to give you guys a little bit of a play by play inside of a brand that we have started to build inside of the Academy. It's our case study in there. It's where we are

Speaker 1: 01:06 really showing people that are in the Academy are brand creators exactly what we're doing and what's happening. The good, bad and the ugly. I mean there's things that aren't always working, but that's okay. We have to keep experimenting and testing and that's what we're doing, but I wanted to give you this because this kind of blew me away. 102% increase in traffic. That's organic traffic, meaning people are searching, finding the site, and then from there coming over and we're getting traffic, we're getting eyeballs and the big thing that I want you to take away here is that if you can get your own traffic, okay, if you can get your own traffic to come over to your own, your own real estate, really your own home base, as I like to call it, there's a lot of different things that you can do, but there's also something that is extremely important and that is committing to the process and being patient.

Speaker 1: 01:58 All right, this is not a get rich quick. This is not an overnight success at all. All right. Now I am going to go through some numbers here. If you're listening to this, you're not going to be able to see me. If you are watching this, you'll see me looking down here and there because I'm going through and I'm going to give you some of these numbers because there's a brand that we have been building now for three years, which gets over 150,000 to 200,000 sessions per month. And actually we've touched 250,000 in one month. Um, that's just not all the time, but there's a lot of things that we're doing here in this new brand, which is, you know, less than a year old. And, uh, and we're modeling what we did in the other one and we're learning from what we did in the other one to do differently moving forward.

Speaker 1: 02:43 Uh, but I just looked at those numbers before I got in here and I'm going to share with you some of those, which is, is kinda crazy as well. I mean, there's one post in there right now that is generating over 2,500 visitors per month. One 2,500 visitors coming to our site. And it's also what we call a buyer's intent post. Meaning it's a product review for a product that we don't even sell. All right? So you guys have heard me talk about opening up the, uh, the catalog so you can sell more products without you having to launch your own products or spending money on inventory. This product right here that I'm talking about in this, in this brand, is a product that sells for over a hundred dollars and we are getting 2,500 people to come to that post because they're looking to buy this thing.

Speaker 1: 03:34 All right, so little side note, little side tip. If you're not creating content in your brand, in your market that leads people over to things that you're not ever going to sell or things that you're not selling right now, you probably should start doing that immediately. If you haven't went through the brand, uh, creator's playbook yet, I'd encourage you to do that as well because that will help you identify your market. But then also these content buckets that will allow you to get traffic and then also be able to get buyers coming over that are looking to buy something. All right, and in this episode, like I said, I want to go through and share with you, um, some of these numbers.

Speaker 1: 04:21 So the, the story about how this all happened. Let me just kind of give you a little bit of a ketchup here. If you have just tuned in for the first time or if you, you know, need a little bit of a, of a refresher. So like I said, inside a brand creators Academy, we're building this brand for a couple of different reasons. Number one, I want to build a brand from scratch so I can then document my process. But also I'm building the systems in the background. So I come from the construction world. Uh, years ago I ran a construction crews and I built things right? I built like additions and I did remodel jobs and I even built homes. Like I did all that stuff right? And it takes a team, it takes processes, it takes all that. I look at building these types of brands, whether that's just a niche site or if it's a full out like big brand.

Speaker 1: 05:09 It comes down to knowing exactly how to do that and then how to have people help you do that. So what I'm doing in the background is I'm building these processes and these systems so I can then just plug it into another market. Another niche I'm in right now. We have two of those going. Um, one of them is performing better than the other. Um, but it's kinda fun to see the comparison. Uh, but like I said, uh, it's, it's coming down to the basics of knowing your market, knowing and validating if you can even get traffic in the market. Cause some markets there's just not enough traffic. And then from there, can you monetize the traffic? Um, again, that's everything that we cover inside of the Academy and also inside of the playbook. Um, so just to kind of let you know, that's what we're doing here.

Speaker 1: 05:53 Um, and that's what I'm going to share with you. So the long game of this is getting traffic over time. This is not something that you're going to put out a piece of content and then you're going to have, you know, droves of traffic and you're going to see just from the, some of the numbers I am sharing with you that sometimes you might only get one traffic source that's producing 50 people over to your site a month. And you might be like, Scott, why, why do you even care? That's only 50 people. You're going to see why this can add up. All right? So, all right, I look at when we're creating these, these assets and this is really what allowed us to get this traffic that I'm going to share with you and double our traffic because it starts to build momentum. But right now, the current assets in this new brand, okay, in this brand, I mean new within a year's time where it's actually less than a year, it's probably like about six months, maybe seven months now, six and a half months, something like that.

Speaker 1: 06:48 We're ranking right now in Google for 3,223 keywords. That means that someone types in one keyword or a phrase that also means a phrase. It could be like, you know how to catch more best. That's one keyword, right? And we're ranking for 3000, 223 keywords. All right? And I'll explain on how this all kind of happens. Now, if you don't believe me, that content is King. Um, you might want to go back and listen to episode seven 91. Um, that episode I went over six websites that sold for big, big cash. All right? And the reason why they were purchased by a media company that sells advertisements, by the way, and they're going away from the news type of sites because news is kind of like here today, gone tomorrow. They're actually plucking up some of these content sites for millions of dollars. So you can literally just say, you know what, I'm just going to build content sites and sell them.

Speaker 1: 07:49 And also there's a market out there for small little niche sites that are selling between $10,000 maybe up to a hundred thousand dollars and that inventory is actually needed right now. There's investors that want to buy those and those are small sites. And then there's other ones that are selling for five hundred thousand five million, 20 million, right? So they're all over the map. But the market that right now is, to me, uh, it's really a great opportunity is if you have a content site, you know, there's a lot of investors that want to buy into that if it's in the right market. But anyway, little, that's a little side note there. Episode seven 91 though, I'll link it up in the description. Speaker 1: 08:37 All right. So let's get into the numbers. All right, so the numbers are pretty, pretty awesome to be honest with you. Uh, I am going to pull that up right now on the fly. So this way here, I can give you exactly what that is. And I apologize if you're watching this on video. I'm not going to be looking at you right now. All right? So last month, this is a 30 days before the time that I did this comparison, okay? Uh, we had the month before that we had, and this is organic, okay? This is organic traffic, meaning that there's, there's other traffic that's coming in and I'll give you that here in a minute. But the overall organic traffic, okay? So we had 583 people come to the site. Okay. 583 and that's in a month's time. Now we had a lot more than that, but that's organic.

Speaker 1: 09:24 So that, that's what I'm giving you this growth on. Cause that's really what's exciting to me. That means people are searching, they're finding. Now there's other ways that people are finding us. Pinterest. There's Facebook, there's direct, you know, rate to the, to the homepage. There's emails that we're blasting out that are getting up 300 to 500 people that are coming over to the site. So the traffic is actually more than this, but this is just to give you this growth from just setting it and then watering it a little bit and then watching it grow. So 583 all right, the following month, okay, 30 days later, 1,048 so that's 102.47% if I want to be precise, okay, that's 102% almost 103% growth, right? And the page views went up 47.84% so what that means is even though we had a, what is that a, what was it?

Speaker 1: 10:23 It was a thousand 1,040 8,048 we had 1,610 page views from that traffic. So meaning someone went on there and they looked around the site, they stayed on site. And then the other thing is, is the average session onsite was a minute and 19. So if we're going to talk about Facebook here for a minute, your attention span on Facebook is less than a goldfish. Okay? It's like seconds. So someone is on the site for a minute, 19 and Oh by the way, there's no video on this. This you have to read, you have to consume. So a minute 19 pretty good. All right, so that's just in that one month. It's already, it's already trending up. It's actually going, this is going to be more next month. Now will we get a hundred percent maybe not. And I'll give you an example of that. Uh, here in a second on another brand that we are also building alongside this one.

Speaker 1: 11:19 Let me just give you some other numbers. So the direct traffic to there was 1,766. Okay. 1,766 organic. Uh, well like I said, it was 1,034 36 whatever that was. And then social was 506. Now we just started adding Pinterest. Okay. Now let me just call a time out here when whenever you're starting something, you don't have to do it all. We're into this thing. Four or five months didn't start Pinterest until now and we're starting to see some momentum with that. All right. Uh, so you don't have to do it all. Okay. But it is in the plans to do some of it. Just not all right. Now the email list, we didn't build that. Let's see, a month and a half, two months ago now. So we waited right one thing at a time, one step at a time. But the first thing we need is we need the home base.

Speaker 1: 12:12 That's like the first and foremost thing and then we're going to start bringing out these other, these other assets to bring traffic back over and you're, and you can see it. It's starting to pay off. Now. Let me just kind of go over before I get into another example. Let me go over why or I'm sorry, what allowed this to happen? Number one, we've been publishing since we decided to go into this market. So every month we're publishing. At a minimum, eight to 10 new pieces of content. And in this, in this, uh, brand, it is written content. Okay. Now, uh, we, last month we created 14 new articles. Okay. So 14 new articles got posted and um, and then from there we're adding more assets. Okay. So every time we add new assets, they might not rank for 30 days or 40 days, right. Although I have a couple here that I just tracked and we posted them a week ago and they're already ranking in the top 12, which is really awesome.

Speaker 1: 13:11 Okay. Um, so we, we published new articles, uh, last month and we continue to do that. And right now we're going between 14 and 20. We're going to try to ramp it up to like 20, so we can put more assets out there because the more assets that we put out there, the greater chance we have. Right. Um, so let me go over now. The second one. Okay. Uh, okay. So overall, actually let me go back to the first one. I'm sorry, I'm looking at my, my notes here. Um, so all the traffic across all the different, you know, the, the different assets, the, uh, you know, the different channels. Bringing it in. Like I said, Pinterest, whether that's Facebook, cause we have a Facebook page, we're driving, not paid ads and there's nothing paid here. By the way, this is all organic and free. Um, we had 4,000, 788, um, sessions.

Speaker 1: 14:00 Okay. That means that's how many, um, sessions were done. People came in and they viewed stuff. We had 2000, 786 new users. Okay. New users and overall users was 3000, 246. So let's just, let's just talk here for a minute. How would you like to have 3000, 246 unique people coming to your website every single month? Now, to some people listening that might seem small to some people might seem huge. I'm pretty happy with that cause I know that that's going to grow. All right. Now my daughter and her husband are following the same, uh, the same process and they've been doing it now for just under a year. And they're at 25,000 sessions per month and now they're starting to get excited because now we're going to be able to start monetizing that with either ads or outreach for sponsorships. Um, so it does, it gets exciting when you start to see some of this traffic.

Speaker 1: 14:56 Now the other thing that I want to highlight here though is as we look at the users, right? 3,246 new users, 2,786 that's really exciting. And then sessions 4,788 but here's the cool thing. How many page views did we get? Right? And that's generally what your, your targeting for ads, if you're going to have sponsored ads, okay. And right now we're just under seven thousand six thousand nine hundred and twenty seven page views. All right? That means that people are there, they're roaming the site. Now part of that is we're linking from one article to another article because it's useful and we're trying to keep them on page or in our home base, right? Cause the more we keep them on there, the more that they're going to be able to navigate. They're going to be able to get a better user experience. It's all about the user experience. All right. So um, that's really awesome.

Speaker 1: 15:50 So let me move on here. Um, one of the things that we did as well, now this is part of that number, the not the organic side of things, but the overall traffic number is we started sending email broadcast, we built the list and then we started sending email broadcasts a one to two per week. And I have a screenshot here that I shared with the Academy, but I'm just going to kind of read over a little bit of what happened here. So we sent out an email and we had a bump for that day of about 325 people. Okay. Cause I can see that that email that I sent had a link in it and how many people click the link. You see what happens there? Like with email, I can track that. I can look at that, I can see the subject line, I can test those certain things.

Speaker 1: 16:33 So that's another thing we're doing to drive traffic because as we increase this traffic here, it counts as traffic. So it doesn't matter, right? It's just another asset, another asset. You know what I'm saying here? Asset in the business. So this way here we can drive traffic and we have control of that. I can write an email right now, click send and it goes out to those people. And then those people can, if I make, you know, if I make it a good email where they're going to want to go over there, which is again something that we talk about and we teach inside the Academy and I've talked about it here on the podcast, but you want to do that and you want to create some curiosity to have them want to go over and check it out. And, uh, and I had two examples here where I did it and I had over, uh, over 300 people, actually three 35 on the one and then the other one was 407.

Speaker 1: 17:19 And there was one recently, I just did it had 552 people from one email. Um, that was this month. So not last month. So these aren't even included in that from last month cause I just started really ramping this up. Um, so pretty awesome stuff. Now let me give you another little update here. Um, the other brand that we're building, that one there is actually getting more traffic following the exact same process. But here's the deal. We haven't published as much content, which is crazy, right? Less content and I say less. We still posted last month we did 14, the same as the other, but before that it was only like eight on a regular basis, maybe 10. Um, so there's less content there, but the market is uh, is a little bit easier to rank for. There might be less competition, whatever. Um, but that one there, we still increased by 23.3, 7% for new users.

Speaker 1: 18:12 And then, uh, let's see, I'm going month to month here. Okay. So the month before we had, uh, let's see. Yeah, we had a 3,612 new users. This one here we had 44, 56 and then overall we had sessions 5,001 87 and then the month before that was 42 47. Um, page views is up over 7,000, 7,062, so just a little bit more than the other one. And then a 5,818 was a month before that. So that's increased as well. So everything is up, everything is up, which is awesome, which is amazing. Um, but here's the big thing, it's because we're constantly okay at it. Meaning we're not at it every day. We're committing to showing up and delivering content. All right? And it's all driven off of content. So we're finding what the market wants, what it needs. And I've talked about this inside of the playbook, but also on the podcast where we're creating our content buckets and those buckets are questions.

Speaker 1: 19:17 They are how tos and they are products. Those are the three buckets. And then we just fill those buckets and then we, we either write or we create videos, um, in those, um, in those buckets. So this way here we can go ahead and uh, and do that. So, uh, let me get back to my notes here. Uh, so, uh, let me just kind of go through the steps here. Okay. Now I got five steps I want to share with you and hopefully this will help you. All right. So number one, we identified our market and that they are consuming content. So this isn't gonna work if your, if your market isn't consuming content and that's why we go through this, you know, the brand growth validation checklist, if you want to grab that, you can grab that for free over@brandcreators.com. Um, the other thing is, now this is step two is we start posting question-based posts.

Speaker 1: 20:03 We always start with the questions because the questions are the easiest. And if someone has a question, they're looking for that immediate answer and generally is going to be easier to rank for. Um, and these are long tail. You know, it's kind of like how to catch bass in a pond that's a long tail. Uh, you know how to catch a bass at night long tail, right? A question, right? They want to know the answer. Number three is we built the email list as soon as we felt that we could. Now again, we didn't rush this. We didn't say, Oh immediately we got to do this. We did it when we felt we could, which after we started to build the content, we started to have things that we could send them. Because when we're sending emails, we want to send them to our blog so we have something that we can send them.

Speaker 1: 20:46 All right? And it makes it a lot easier. So we built the email list. Number four is we set weekly emails and we're getting between 300 and 500 people per email to go over to our blog. Okay? Again, it's basically free traffic once you have your list up and running. Now, yes, we have to pay for convert kit to store the emails, but we don't have to worry about sending emails. Um, we can send unlimited emails like we don't have to worry about that. Um, so that's that. And then number five is we're continuing to write 10 to 15 posts per month. Okay? Now you might be saying, Scott, I can't write 10 to 15 posts, right? For write one a week, commit to one per week. And here's a little, a little Ninja tip, all right? And something that you can, uh, you can do.

Speaker 1: 21:30 I know you can, you want to create an a schedule, a posting schedule. Are you posting on Tuesdays and Thursdays? Are you posting on Friday? Are you posting on Monday? I don't care when there's, you know, PV people will say, well, Scott, when's the best time? The best time is whenever you can. All right? So post something and get into a routine. All right? Um, so continue to write those 10 to 15 posts. That's what we're doing. Not saying you have to do that. And that's really then putting out these assets into the marketplace and really into the market. All right. Um, so another big, big thing here to, uh, to make sure that you're aware of is for the first three months, we didn't see any traffic, right? We didn't really even look at the analytics because we knew it was going to be crickets.

Speaker 1: 22:14 Okay? Why? Because it's the way that the algorithm works in Google, just like Amazon, right? Like you gotta wait a little bit, but you gotta also feed it, right? And that's all that we're doing. So we're kind of throwing seeds out there and seeing which ones are kind of growing, what, what seeds are starting to take. Then we can start to focus on them. We can give them a little bit more fertilizer. Uh, we can go ahead and give them a little bit extra love because they're starting to grow and they're starting to get some good roots. All right. And that's kinda how we look at it. Nothing major with like SEO, search engine optimization, really basic stuff. Just following the basic principles. Um, you know, using a plugin like Yoast to give us a little bit of a green light. Um, but basically that's it.

Speaker 1: 22:56 Okay. Um, and really the thing is, is looking at this as a long game, right? The long game, right? If you start now, where were you being in 52 weeks? If you post one article or one piece of content for one, one piece per week, that's 52 pieces of content. I've talked about this as a 52 X strategy. My good buddy, uh, you know Jesse over at still it and crushing it right now. He's been at it three years, but when he first started he said, I'm going to commit to one video per week for 52 weeks. And he did that and he went from zero subscribers on YouTube to 15,000 to now he's up over 50,000. And he just posted a video the other day. He was actually one of our guests inside of the Academy breaking down his YouTube strategy. And uh, he was, uh, he was, uh, saying that he just posted a video that morning and he did.

Speaker 1: 23:41 And when we were on, I had like 800 views, right? And I just looked the other day about a day and a half after he was on, it was over 23,000 views. Okay. But it didn't start that way. It didn't start that way. So always remember that, okay, you got to put in the work. You got to put in the time. It doesn't have to be hard, but you have to, you have to get out there and do it. All right? So just remember that what we're doing here in any business, any brand, is we're creating assets and I like to call these evergreen assets. We're planting seeds in the market that will lead back to us. Imagine going around and putting yard signs in an area that you knew. We're all interested in a certain topic, like maybe people that are in your market that are into bass fishing. They all live in one area, let's say, or maybe it's by the Lake.

Speaker 1: 24:31 We go, you know what? I know that people are fishing in the Lake. Let's put some yard signs in all these different lakes around the country or around the globe. That's kind of what we're doing. Content. We're only going to be attracting the people that are searching for in those areas. All right, and that's all we're doing. So, um, so again, I want them to share this with you. Right now we're ranking for 3,223 keywords. And the crazy thing is some of those are really close to getting some big traffic. And that's what I mean about planting seeds. What we do is we plant the seeds, we come back a month later, two months later, we sees the w, we sees, we see the ones that are sprouting, and then we say, Oh wow, that keyword, it's ranking right now in the ninth position on Google, we're getting 150 searches even in the ninth position.

Speaker 1: 25:18 But the number one position or the number three position is getting, I don't know, 1500 maybe we need to work on that one a little bit. How can we get that one to bump up? And there's some strategies on how you can do that. I can't get into them right now. We're running out of time, but um, you can start to add a little bit of fertilizer to those and start focusing on those. But at the beginning you're just sprinkling out the seed and you're seeing what catches. All right? And you can go at it though strategically, we're not just going to go and just throw mud at the wall. We're going to be a little bit more strategic. We're going to use a free tools like Google to tell us what we should be creating content for, and then we're going to start creating it and that's it.

Speaker 1: 25:56 And then we're going to see where that leads us. All right, so now again, a little recap here on how we were able to do this, how we're going to continue to do this. Number one, we identified our market and we identified that they're consuming content. We did a little bit of research to see what we need to create. Number two, we started posting question-based posts first or the easiest and you can have these written even if you aren't going to be the one writing them, you can find someone on Fiverr, you can find someone I writer Upwork free up, you name it wherever you want to go. It will require a little bit of testing because writers, well you got to go out there and you've got to find some and it's going to take a little bit of weeding out the good and the bad.

Speaker 1: 26:36 So just a little side note there. Number three built our, we built that email list and that was the next step. Number four, we sent weekly emails and we're starting to send more weekly emails, like two a week now getting 300 to 500 people to go to our blog with just the click of a button. And then number five is we're going to focus on writing more posts. We're going to try to ramp that up. And then from there we're going to rinse and repeat. All right. And really we don't have to do any more of the identifying the market cause that's already done. But we are going to be identifying those keywords that we think that the market is going to be searching for. And we're gonna get a little bit more strategic at this point. But in the beginning we don't have to really think too hard about that.

It's like being a contractor, uh, and you, you learned a skill, you learned how to be a great cabinet maker, or you learn how to be a great roofer or a good brick layer, whatever. Once you learn that skillset, you have that asset yourself. You are valuable now and you can plug that in to just about any business.
