…with you this question and then my answer and it has to do with emails again. You guys are going to get tired of hearing about this but you have to hear about this because it's really, really important. And this question came in about what is the best way to send emails to my list? And some might be saying well, is there any other way to send an email? And there actually is.
So I'm going to go ahead and talk about that here today. You might remember me talking about this thing called brand accelerator live. It's an event that's happening September 2019 and yes, that is a TAS event that we decided to create and have and it's going to be awesome, it's going to be amazing. [00:02:11] Scott: He came to me with the idea. He's got experience in working with larger events and well, long story short we're going to have an event. So you guys are all invited. Here's the thing though, there's only going to be 300 tickets available. So we're going to keep this small and I'm doing that on purpose because I've been to a lot of events and some of those are very, very large events. Now, nothing wrong with that. But I personally like smaller events. 300 or less. It feels like I'm at a smaller high school where I know everybody or at least I see people usually once during the event or just a little bit closer. It's just a little more intimate.
And we have one stage like the whole thing. It's going to be amazing, there's a lot of things that we're going to be putting this event. So this way here you can accelerate. That's why it's called Brand Accelerator by the way. It's a way for you to accelerate your brand and that's going to be on Amazon but it's also going to be off of Amazon. Very, very heavily focused on helping you get where you're not channel dependent so we can also get you educated on how you can go out there and build a brand off of Amazon. But also capitalize on the Amazon channel.
Why wouldn't we still want to do that? I'm still a big fan of that, you know that. So that's what we're going to be doing. A lot of announcements are going to be happening as far as who's going to be speaking. I’ve got a few things up my sleeve here that are going to be pretty exciting. The one thing that I have up my sleeve which is pretty exciting is I have a secrete project that I'm going to be working on for about seven to eight months from the time about now that I'm starting it to the time of the event and hopefully it will be ready. Fingers crossed. But I’m hoping and I’m praying that it will be and I'm going to be revealing it there at the event.
And the cool thing is everyone that is there in attendance is also going to be a part of it and it's not going to cost them a thing.
[00:04:02] Scott: So, that's the really cool part as well. Do definitely go do that. So now before we jump into today's question, one more thing I want to give you my thought of the week which is this, very simple. We’re at the end of August now of 2018, depending on when you're listening to this. These are podcasts, they live on. So if you're listening to this at the end of August that would be also September first week in September. We need to plan ahead because guess what, we're approaching fourth quarter. And it's coming quickly. So right now if you have not planned your inventory depending on your manufacturing, you might miss this opportunity.
So what I don't want you to do is miss out on this amazing opportunity. If you remember last fourth quarter, I shared with you guys, in the new brand that we had launched which wasn't even a full 12 months old yet we were shooting for $75,000 in December. We ended up crashing that and hitting $100,000 and that's because we had enough inventory and we also were planning ahead. We were seeding our products and what I mean by that and this is really important so pay attention. You need to also not just plan the inventory, you also have to plan your ranking and your keywords that you're targeting.
[00:06:30] Scott: Don't think that you're just going to turn on pay-per-click and all of a sudden you're going to be the winner. And if you are you might be spending a whole bunch of money. So what we want to do is we want to seed ourselves in the search rankings right now so we can organically appear but we can also be more relevant than other people because we have history. So little tip for you, start doing pay-per-click right now. Start searching for some of those longtail keywords and then this way here you can start to widen the net and that will be for organic and it will be for paid.
The other thing is build your list now. If you have not build your list you want to start building the list so this way here you can push more sales at the time of fourth quarter we want to push more sales. This will do two things. What it will do is it will immediately get you sales from your list but it will also get you sales that will also help you organically rank higher. So it does two different things. One little tip here do not just email your list about promotions. You've heard me talk about this, a lot and I'm going to talk about it again here. I'm going to really drive this point home.
You need to email your list at least once a week. And I would say, email them something useful whether that's you sharing something that you found whatever it is share it so this way here we call it keeping the list warm. You want that list to be warm so this way here they’re not like, ‘Wait a minute who is this person again, why am I not hearing about them until they're promoting something?’ You don't want that to be you. So plan ahead Do it right now. If you're listening to this and you haven’t done any of this stuff, start planning what you are going to do in the fourth quarter or preparation or preparing for the fourth quarter.
[00:08:20] Scott: So definitely, definitely do that. I know that was a mouthful, but there's a lot of stuff that's going on and I want to make sure that you guys are all hearing about it here. So let's go ahead and let's listen to the question. I'll give you my answer and then we'll wrap this baby up. Let's do this.
[00:08:42] Scott: So the question comes in from Brandon. And Brandon says great stuff Scott. Just yesterday got the blogs filled out with some past articles and planning my content strategy so this is super timely. Now, Brandon had listened and watched one of my other content planning videos where I actually show you how to go out there and plan some content and then publish it to your market. So that's where this came from. So the question is this, should we have all new blog posts to auto-send to email list or do the, ‘Hey, I posted a new article on the blog, here's a summary but click here for more.”
So first off, Brandon thanks so much for the question and it's a great question. And what Brandon is talking about is this. Let's pretend that we have a piece of content that we created on our blog, something we also refer to as our home base. If you've watched any of our brand building stuff in the past, we talk about your home base. And that is your website, your blog, some place that you control that you're going to be sending people to. So what he's done is he's created some content on his blog. And what he wants to know is inside of like Aweber or even ConverKit I believe they have this or any of the mainstream autoresponders, you have the ability to basically have a message automatically get sent to your email list once you publish something on your blog.
I've never done this by the way. And I don't really recommend that you do. I think what you want to do is you want to let people know that you've written something or posted something and then you want to create a broadcast. Now, what is a broadcast message? So there's two different types that you can send within your autoresponder. Now your autoresponder is an email provider which will allow you to start to automate some of your messaging. Which I'll talk about here in a minute. But what we're talking about here is we created this piece of content and now we want to let people know that we created it.
[00:10:39] Scott: So what I do here, in the Amazing Seller, that's the podcast, the YouTube Channel, what I do is every single Friday I send out a recap email. So I list all of the different things that's been happening inside of the Amazing seller. So you probably receive some of them of you're on the email list. If not then go sign up and I'll actually, I'll leave a link down to the blog. You can go ahead and sign up thee. And you'll get my emails on Fridays. So every Friday I send out an email with a recap. So this way here I'm able to personalize it a little bit, it's just not going to be something that just gets triggered and sent out.
Now, that's a broadcast. If I want to send a message directly to my email list all I have to do is type up a message as a broadcast and then click send and it sends it to everybody. That's a broadcast. So once it's sent, it’s sent it's not going to auto send again, it's done. Now, in my last Ask Scott video I talked about email marketing is it dead and I gave you one tip on how to increase your opens. And that was to send to unopens. So that's another side tip here if you didn't watch that video you might want to because that will give you a little bit more perspective but also some tips on how to get more opens and more clicks in your emails.
So what you want to understand though, is when we're doing this we're writing something and we're sending it once. That's a broadcast. Now, let's talk about the autoresponder side of things. The autoresponder is great. So this way here we can have the sequence prebuilt. So if someone joins our email list they get email number one and then maybe three days later they get email number two and then maybe four days later they get email number three and so on. So we can create this journey if you will, this customer journey. That's what I like to create as far as for my customers or for even just potential customers is I want them to get them to know they can trust me. So the first one might just be like, ‘Hey you signed up to get this, here it is.'
[00:12:34] Scott: So you’re delivering on your promise. Again, that starts to build trust. The next thing now might be a little bit about your story and then maybe a couple of tips. Leading back to your blog. Then the third message is something that is another tip or something you're sharing and then maybe that slight pitch to one of your products. Now, this is all automated. You can pre-schedule all this stuff pre-write it and then you're able to have that ongoing. So this way here you can continually bring new people in and they are always having the experience but you are going to want to send these broadcast messages all the time to your list as far as just like not just every single day but you're going to want to send them when you have fresh content which hopefully will be weekly.
So this way here you can stay connected to them and it's not just another automation. I like to be able to have that feedback also. One other little tip here for you. This is something that I've always put into my email sequences and it really helps. It helps with a lot of different areas but one of the main ones is it gets them to open the email and it also gets them to send me a message back and then I can then start that or they start to dialogue and I can continue the dialogue and I can continue that conversation. So what we might do is like we just say thanks in the subject line. Again getting a good open rate and then not having any HTML, no images, none of that stuff.
And then just not even a link. And then just like, “Hey I noticed that you signed up to receive my five point checklist. Hope you enjoy it, take a second and let me know what you think. Click reply and let me know I'd love to hear from you. Talk to you later. Scott” And then what this does, does a couple of things. Number one, there's no links in it, there's no html in it, which is basically just a fancy word for like web stuff like a website and then that also can trigger spam filters and stuff. There's none of that stuff in there. So if someone opens my email, it lets gmail know or Yahoo know that they want to receive it.
[00:14:30] Scott: And it doesn't go in the trap of spam or promotions or any of that stuff. So you have a greater chance of getting future opens because it doesn't get dropped in one of those mail pieces. It also allows me to be able to then start a conversation with them. Or they start it and then I continue it. So it's for them to say, hey yeah. I did and thanks for reaching out to make sure that I got everything. I did have a question, X, Y &Z and then I can email them back. ‘Hey thanks John for letting me know you got it and yeah the answer to your question is this.’ That’s what you would do.
So you get that dialogue, you get that connection and that's something we also talk about in our PACE method and it's really in the C which is cultivation and that really allows us to start communicating and connecting with our audience. So I went off on a little bit of a tangent there in the email marketing thing but I want to really answer this question directly and say no I would not automate that part of it as far as sending people to a fresh blog post and have that automated or triggered inside of your autoresponder. I would do that manually. But the autoresponder I would build out so this way here people that are coming in are going to be getting messages from you, good content and also getting to know they can trust you.
