TAS 087 : 6 Tips To Build Your Own Launch List For Sales and Reviews
|An email list is an asset that is yours forever.
It’s a tool you can use to make your products known to people who are perfectly matched for them, and no company or person can keep you from using that list to increase your sales, reviews, and success. If you aren’t building an email list right now, you’ve got to start. You can use the tips Scott shares in this episode to get a jump on the process, using mostly free tools. And in the end, even if you do need to invest a small amount of money in building your list, you’ll recoup that cash quickly once those you target through your email campaigns begin responding to your products. Find out how to do it on this episode.
Amazon won’t give you the email address of people who buy your products. But that doesn’t mean you can’t build an email list of your own.
How can you do it? It’s really not that difficult to figure out, and once you do it, you’ve got a “launch list” to market to for every new product in your niche that you develop and place on Amazon. Imagine the impact of being able to target your new products directly to people who have already expressed interest in your products. You’ll have a jumpstart on Amazon reviews, sales, and ultimately, success. In this episode of The Amazing Seller Scott is going to give you his top 6 tips for building your own email list.
How you can use a Facebook fan page to capture emails and build a community.
Anyone can create a Facebook fan page… it’s really pretty simple. But how do you get people into the group? Even more importantly, how do you get people into the group who are truly interested in what you have to sell? That’s where Facebook ads come in. For a very small amount you can specifically target people who have already indicated that they are interested in the types of things you sell. You can set daily limits on what you spend, tweak your ad campaign at any time, and cancel when you feel it’s done all you need it to do. This is one of Scott’s favorite ways to build a fan page, which you can then use to build your email list. Find out the details on this episode.
Tomoson is another way you can build an email list of people who want what you have to sell.
Tomoson is a website dedicated to connecting review bloggers and the people who have products needing reviews. That sounds like you, doesn’t it? Using their platform you can locate bloggers who are interested in reviewing the kinds of products you sell, make contact with them offering to send them your product in exchange for a review, and increase your exposure through their review and through the things they say about your product on their blog. It’s a great way to increase interest in your products with the potential of building your email list with the addresses of those who respond. Find out how Scott uses Tomoson on this episode of The Amazing Seller.
You can also use Amasuite to find and filter reviewers who are interested in the type of products you sell.
Amasuite is Chris Guthrie’s amazing tool that helps you research and filter through the Amazon listings to find the exact products that might be big sellers. But there’s tons more to Amasuite than just product research. You can use the filter functionality in the program to find people likely to review a product like yours so you can reach out to them for a review. It’s another amazing way you can get your products into the hands of interested reviewers, which in turn can increase your product’s profile in Amazon. Find out how Scott uses Amasuite to gain more subscribers to his email list, and how you can get $100 off the software – in this episode.

Hi Scott. I just wanted to let you know I stumbled across your youtube videos and they are just amazing. I am new to the online business and the information you provided is insightful and practical. Since there are over 400 videos already, I am trying to catch up because every single one of them has so much useful information in it and i don’t want to miss anything. Thanks again for your great work!
Hi Scott,
Is using Tomoson to get reviews still a valid strategy after the Amazon latest TOS update regarding incentivized reviews?
Hey Ryan, you CAN as long as you’re not requiring a review in exchange. You may want to take a look at theamazingseller.com/buildlist
Hi, Scott
I got very excited about the features of AMS you were talking about here but your affiliate link doesn’t work.
I searched their company and found Amasuite 5 but they didn’t mention about the features described in your show. i.e. extracting reviewers’ email. Wondering if you’d still recommend their service and if there is alternative company that does that too?
Hey YT I would for sure take a look at Amasuite. Keep in mind that some things have changed since this episode aired, including the mass availablitly of top reviewer emails.
Hi Scott, loved the podcast, I’m new to this whole strategy but love the potential.
My question is, you say you only ship DHL Air. Can you explain a little more about how that process works. Does your supplier organize that? My supplier gets a shipping discount so I’m assuming it’s better if they arrange shipping. Does this shipping cost then get added to your order cost or is it kept separate and you pay separately? Also, I heard you need to establish yourself as “Importer of Record” How is that done?
If you’re shipping via Air, your supplier and the carrier will handle virtually everything for you, including most of the paperwork, they’ll also generally be able to get better pricing. If you ask them for Air express DDP pricing, they should know what you’re talking about and be able to get you a fairly accurate quote.
Scott thank you for all of the information that you provide in your podcasts. It helps to alleviate some of the trepidation that I have experienced in this process. Keep doing what you do!!!
Hi Scott, great show! One comment: while I do agree that an email list is a great asset, dont forget all the people who, like me, will put in the email address for the free product, but will immediately unsubscribe. You have to understand that EVERYONE does this giveaway in exchange for your email gig and we MUST unsubscribe in order to remain sane after the barrage of emails coming in every day from everywhere. So even if I want a free garlic press, it doesn’t mean I want anything else ever again. How to work around this would be a great topic too. Keep up the good work!
Hey Jackie, believe it or not…you’re actually in the minority there. Quite often users will not unsubscribe and will in fact come back and by something later, even if they never intended to originally, well crafted emails are powerful!
If you want to keep people engaged with your emails, you have to provide VALUE, not just a constant barrage of sales related content but real value. Take the garlic press example we always use, you could send out a weekly meal plan or recipes to keep subscribers engaged, things like that stop people from unsubscribing AND go a long way to making them a valuable customer over the long term.
I am getting ready to launch my first product. My product is listed and I am waiting for the shipment. I want to do a friends and family promo for $1.95. How do I create a super URL. When I went to seller central, I don’t see a URL to a my product yet
Hey Pattie, a lot of times your product link won’t be live until your product is in stock at amazon (if you’re using FBA). Once it’s instock you’ll be able to view it on the site and do whatever you’d like with the link. Alternatively you could switch it to Merchant fulfilled quickly and get the link that way as well. Just be sure to switch it back as soon as possible, so you don’t sell any by accident!
Hi Scott,
Have you used (or heard feedback on) AMZTracker’s ‘Review Club’ feature? How effective is it in practice? It seems like an ideal solution for non-US based FBAers…
Hey Greg,
I haven’t personally used the service so I can’t speak to it’s effectiveness. I’d suggest you poll the Facebook group and see if anyone there has utilized the service!
Scott,
Thank you for all the wonderful, informative information. You are awesome! Keep up the good work. You are motivational and inspiring! God Bless!
This is a very interesting post Scott,
Every online marketer today knows very well the important of building an email list. Its really one of those important things that can’t just be ignore unless you’re not serious with internet marketing because as you said, its an asset that will be with you forever.
Facebook ads is also one of the best ways to build it if you know how to use it.
Hey Scott, love the podcast! Been enjoying episode after episode the last couple of weeks. Hey, big question on your strategy to use Amasuite’s Review Finder to scrape competitors or products within the same niche for reviewers’ emails: what method would you recommend for reaching out and contacting these reviewers without coming across as spammy and invasive? I’ve been successful in finding reviewers on other listings but didn’t know how to make a good first impression. Thanks!
Hey Matt,
when it comes to outreach, whether it’s with bloggers, media, or reviewers, honesty is always the best policy.
When you reach out to them simply explain to them WHY you are reaching out to them. In this case it’s because…” I read your review of XYZ product and noticed [what you noticed, what they didn’t like/liked], I have a similar product that [solves the problem you noticed/ does the thing you liked better] and wanted to get your feedback. Would you be interested in receiving the product in exchange for your honest review?
Adding the personal details and showing that you read there review removes the “spammy” element and makes it seem more genuine (which it is!)
